The Victoria Gate scheme was an ambitious £165m development project which saw the creation of the largest premium retail and leisure venue in the north of England.

Challenge

To develop a smoke control system for this stunning retail arcade and which would work in harmony with the showpiece victorian styled arcade glazed roof.

Location

It was a very city centre location next to Hammerson's Victoria Quarter Arcade in Leeds.

Goal

To develop a discrete smoke control system for the arcade area that would be an effective system for ventilation of smoke from the building to enable safe evacuation in the event of a fire without having a negative impact on the stunning design of the building.

Delta Response

The main attraction of Victoria Gate is the arcade roof which continues the tradition of adjacent Victorian arcade glazed roofs. Working closely with our client Seele, Delta produced custom-made triangular Lumera smoke vents with concealed controls that provide both smoke ventilation and summer cooling.
